The
benefits of a Montessori education can make a huge difference in a child’s
life. A Montessori learning environment will give your child the opportunity to
develop their full potential and enter into the world as a competent,
respectful, and responsible citizen with an appreciation and understanding that
learning is life-long. When children are given a supportive and nurturing
environment where they are free to ask questions, make connections, and follow
their own unique interests, they develop into enthusiastic, confident, and
self-directed learners. They have the ability to work collaboratively, act
boldly, and think critically, which are skills that will be a huge benefit in
the 21st century.
From
the start, Montessori students will develop concentration, coordination, and
independence. The Montessori classroom design, materials, and daily routines
will support an individual child’s ability to self-regulate. They will be
capable to educate themselves by following their interests and natural desire
for knowledge as they enjoy freedom within limits. Your child will be able to
work within parameters that are set by their teacher and decide what their
learning will focus on that day. The carefully prepared environment drives a
child’s natural desire and curiosity for knowledge, which results in a joyous
learning experience that they will enjoy for a lifetime.
Montessori
students will experience the joy of being a part of a close, caring community. A
Montessori learning environment consists of children that are of mixed ages,
which typically span over a three-year age difference to re-create a typical
family structure. The older children will have the opportunity to enjoy being a
role model and mentor to the younger children in the classroom. While the
younger children develop a sense of support and gain their confidence about the
challenges that lay ahead. This type of learning environment models how they
should act in their own communities and teaches them the skills of peaceful
conflict resolution, loving, kindness, and being respectful towards others. The
Montessori teacher also exudes these qualities to the children in the
classroom.

The
Montessori classroom allows students to be supported and nurtured in their
quest for knowledge. Students are provided an environment where they have the
freedom and tools to pursue the answers of their own questions. As the children
mature, they will learn to look at their work critically and become proficient
at learning, recognizing, and correcting their errors. The children will
develop self-correction and self-assessment skills, which are an integral
component of a Montessori classroom as well as life in general.
A
Montessori learning environment values each child as a unique individual. The
Montessori Method recognizes that every child learns in different ways and that
is why our motto is “follow the child”. This type of approach will allow
students the freedom to learn at their own pace with each child advancing
through the material as they are ready. The Montessori teacher will be there to
guide them and provide knowledge as the opportunities arise, instead of having
scheduled lessons throughout the day. When your child is surrounded by a
carefully prepared environment with select Montessori materials, the
opportunities are endless.
